Importance of Green Vegetables

Celery… “yuck”, Broccoli… ”yuck”, Kale… ”yuck”, Spinach… ”yuck”, Cucumbers… ”yuck”……..

All of these vegetables (and many more) were vegetables that we frowned upon as a child. Some of us still frown upon these vegetables now as adults. There are two things that these vegetables have in common: 1) They are all green (obviously) 2) They are EXTREMELY important for the body. Before I get into factual information about these veggies, I want to first tell you about my experience with them.

As a child, I was “stuck in the middle” when it came to vegetables. That simply means I never took an extra effort to try new vegetables, but if my parents prepared vegetbales at home, then I would eat some and not throw a fit about it. Unlike today, as a child vegetables were not something I craved for at every meal. I mentioned this because as a child I didn’t realize how important vegetables were for my body (other than it being on the food pyramid) and I didn’t realize how great vegetables made me feel if I ate them consistently every meal and everyday. I really didn’t start focusing and noticing a difference in my body until I graduated from college. After college, I began juicing, drinking green tea, including more fruits & vegetables in my meals, and making sure I drank plenty of water daily. By doing all of this consistently, I began to notice a whole new experience on life. Seriously!!!!… I saw a positive change in my energy levels, thoughts, sleep, movements, digestion, etc.

This change in experience is a combination of everything I mentioned above and more, but green vegetables played a key role in this happening. The reason I can say that is because I consume more green vegetables than any other color vegetable on a daily basis. Also I notice an immediate boost of energy and liveliness after consuming green juices and/or green smoothies. This is my testimony on how important and great I believe green vegetables are because of how they have made me feel.
